DIY Shoe Clips w/Sunshine Shoppe Supply

(Supplies provided by Sunshine Shoppe Supply)

When most people see lots of flowers and feathers and such, they immediately think "hair accessories."  Now don't get me wrong, hair stuff is cool and all but I wanted to do something a little outside the box with what the Sunshine Shoppe provided! Now, I did make a headband tutorial, but I also brainstormed what else I could put these lovelies on and came up with these shoe clips. Without further ado, let's get those shoes looking purdy!;)

You will need:
(Not only does the Sunshine Shoppe have all the fun flowers and things, but they also have the totally necessary "hardware" [clips, felt, etc] to make all of your accessories!)
The shabby flowers are attached to each other and sewed onto a strip of mesh.  So to begin with, you will need to cut right between the two flowers and then trim the mesh from around the flower.

(See the stitching that holds the flower onto the mesh? DO NOT CUT THAT but cut close to it so that you cannot see the mesh looking at the flower from above.

Here's a closer look.

Next, apply hot glue gun to one of your felt circles in a spiral pattern (this will hold the flower down securely) and press the flower down.  Don't worry about squishing the flower, you can fluff it up when you are done:)

Put a dot of glue on each side of one of the felt rectangles and press onto the center of the backside of the felt circle. You don't necessarily need the alligator clip on at this point, but it definitely makes it easier to hold.  (If you want to use this flower as a pin later on, do not glue the clip onto the felt.  I decided that I will only be using these as shoe or hair clips, so I put a dab of hot glue under the center of the felt rectangle and slid the clip in, making sure to hold it open so that one side is not exposed to the glue).

Now, repeat with the other set of supplies and you are done!

TADA!  Now you have a super sweet decoration to add onto any old boring pair of flats!  Go rock those cute "new" shoes!

These clips are versatile so that they can be paired with jeans or a nice dress.

Just think, they'll go perfect with your favorite chambray top!!!

I was not paid to write this review.  However, I received the supplies for this tutorial from the Sunshine Shoppe Supply.  All opinions in this post are mine.

DIY Coffee Cozy w/Sunshine Shoppe Supply

I'm back today with another fun tutorial for you: a super easy, no-sew coffee cozy with a cute flower:)  If you didn't see my Shabby Heart Sweatshirt, go check it out!  But make sure to come back!;)

Once again, the flower in this project is from the Sunshine Shoppe Supply.

You will need
  • Felt
  • Fabric scissors
  • Coffee cozy template (I used the pattern from this site)
  • Pins
  • Sewing machine
  • Hot glue gun

Cut your coffee cozy out of felt.

 Pin the short ends together.

 Sew with 1/4" seam allowance

Iron down the middle of the seam so that it is not sticking up off of the coffee cozy and turn inside out.

Put glue on the back of your flower in a spiral and press it on to the coffee cozy.  You can either put it on the seam to hide it, or directly across from it.
And voila, you have a super easy coffee cozy with a pop of color that you need until spring comes along!:)

Now take your coffee and go cozy up with a good book...out in the woods if you'd like!  Oh, and you might wanna make the sweatshirt so that you don't get too cold;)

Don't worry, the weather's not always perfect here.  It was actually like 20 degrees when we were taking these pictures.....and we had 9 inches of snow 3 days later:)

DIY: Quick Felt Coffee Cozies

Do you ever see a picture online *cough cough Pinterest* that just jumps at you?  I mean, there's always really cool stuff going by on Pinterest.  But sometimes certain pictures just seem to pop.  I don't know if it's the color or the project, or just the photography in general, but this was one pic that immediately caught my eye.

Ok, so I love felt, I love ombre, I love coffee, and I love projects that take 30 minutes tops.  And I also love the fact that this project is from a mostly crocheting blog.  Dontcha just love it when people step outside of their crafty boundaries and try something new?  (Along those lines, I might be learning crocheting soon so that I can try some of the projects on this site:)
Yesterday I posted this picture on IG (find me @fancythatnotion) as a sneak peek of what would be up today!
So here is my version of these super easy coffee cozies.  I made nine out of three different colored felts for the ombre look, and they took me less than 30 minutes total.  Like it says on the tutorial, an assembly line process is the best way to go.  And thanks to some Black Friday deals, this cost me less than $2 and I still have extra felt (Shhhhh, don't tell anyone!!!)  Don't you think this would make the perfect stocking stuffer?  I might be including these in some small Christmas packages for friends this year (so if you get one, act surprised;)

Are you making any homemade gifts for Christmas this year?  I would love to hear about them!

Here's a little preview for an outfit that I'm designing.  I used this tutorial, just made mine a little bigger.  But, shh, don't tell my sister Stephanie.  It's a surprise:)

Update: I 've found most of what I need for my outfit, just need some trim to finish it off!  I'm so excited, I can't wait to show you!
